Ribbon Tweeter

The proprietary, trademark ribbon tweeter is a unique design.  It is completely designed and built by hand in-house in Denmark.  To be exact, it is a Planar Magnetic Tweeter due to the tracks in the foil.  The foil is 11 microns thick, which means it has 50 times less mass in comparison to a conventional dome tweeter.  This is because the voice coil is in the foil and the extreme low weight of the foil (20 milligram).  The result is virutally no resonances or distortion, and the breakup point is at an incredible 82 KHz.  What you hear is amazing clear and natural sound.  All the detail in the world, but no fatigue, no distorition and no colouration.

Ceramic Coated Bass Drivers

Finally, a drive unit that can keep up with the Raidho ribbon tweeter.  The base of the membrane is an aluminium cone, which in itself, is very rigid and stiff. One of the challenges with aluminium is that it has its own distinct sound/ringing.  To eliminate this, Raidho drivers are all coated with a thin layer of ceramic.   The coating is put on through a plasma process that binds the ceramic coating to the aluminium.  With the aluminium-oxide ceramic cones, the first breakup mode was raised to 12,5kHz, which sets a high standard for cone-driver resonances.  The motor system of the drive unit, is a piece of art.  A very aero dynamic construction with a high-level ventilation which increases dynamics and lowers distortion.  High strength neodymium magnets allow for ultimate control in a unique construction.

The Crossover

The heart of the loudspeaker is always tucked away inside the loudspeaker.  But Raidho really want to show it to the world as this is a piece of engineering they are proud of.  On the back, you can see the point-to-point hardwiring which is all done by hand.  Furthermore, the use of Nordost cable in the crossover is highly unusual and reveals the enormous attention to detail.  Needless to say, the internal cable is also from Nordost with Norse technology, which is also used in the Nordost Valhalla models.  

The Bottom End

The loudspeaker rests not on spikes, but on very smartly constructed feet with integrated decoupling.  This speaker itself stands on ceramic balls which are not visible from the outside.  This setup works wonders for the sound but does not damage the floor.

The beautifully integrated bass reflex ports are possible to dampen so the bass does not overpower smaller rooms.

The connections may look small and inferior, but are actually designed to give the best possible contact to your cables and the crossover.
